Piles also known as hemorrhoids or bawaseer or bawasir, are swollen vessels of blood in or around the rectum and anus. These hemorrhoid veins occur in the lowest part of the rectum and anus. Sometimes these blood vessels swell up so much that the vein walls get stretched and become thin and irritated during the bowel movement. Such a condition is termed as hemorrhoids.
